What dance and performance styles do UK sides perform?
Cotswold is the most-commonly performed dance style by sides in the UK. Around four in ten sides (40 per cent) dance Cotswold regularly, with a further seven per cent dancing Cotswold occasionally. Border is the second-most common with 26 per cent dancing it regularly and another 13 per cent occasionally.
Sides perform a range of styles, with North West, Mumming and Clog Step the next most prevalent.

The prevalence of different performance styles has changed over time. The most significant change has been the growth of Border sides (both regular and occasional), from 34 per cent in 2014 to 39 per cent in 2023 . In the most recent census, the most significant change has been the fall in the prevalence of rapper and longsword sides, from 12 per cent each in 2020 to 10 and 9 per cent respectively in 2023. The proportion of sides performing Mumming has also fallen from 24 per cent in 2020 to 20 per cent in 2023.
